Dear M5hosting Customer,
We will be performing some work during our next regular Network
Maintenance Window which may impact you.
Our network infrastructure has grown in capacity and performance over
the last few years, but also in physical size. We have acquired new
additional cage space at our primary data center facility. This weekend,
we are moving our network infrastructure in to this new cage space where
there is plenty of room for our current network infrastructure and
upgrades which are planned over the next year. The new cage also has
room for several hundred more servers.
The move will take place after 1am PDT on Sunday morning, May 17th. We
will take down the redundant half of the network, physically move it to
the new location, transfer functionality to the network in the new
location, then move the second half and restore full redundancy. This
procedure will ensure a minimal interruption. However, PremiumNet
customers may notice a few momentary pauses as the HSRP and VRRP and STP
protocols do their jobs.
There will be a greater impact on ValueNet as BGP does it's job,
inbound traffic may not be routed properly on it way to us while routes
are updated out on the Internet. It may take several minutes for route
changes to fully propagate and stabilize across the Internet. Some
locations on the Internet may have difficulty reaching servers hosted on
ValueNet for several minutes. Other locations will not be impacted.
Window Start: Sunday 5/17/09 01:00 PDT
Window End: Sunday 7/6/08 06:00 PDT
Impact: Each customer may notice a few short interruptions. PremiumNet
customers may be impacted for seconds, while ValueNet customers may be
affected by sub-optimal routing for several minutes.
As always, we appreciate your feedback regarding this email, or the
work it describes. That thought you just had a moment ago... care to
share it with us? Drop us a line.
Thank you!
Mike
